Lightning vs. ATFLIR
« on: December 01, 2021, 04:13:47 PM »
I watched a couple of comparison videos on YouTube and came to the conclusion that, other than the greater zoom capability of the Lightning pod, there isn't a significant difference between the two. I did a little experiment of my own tho, and found that by putting the FLIR display from the Lightning down in the MCPID(sp?), the display was far more readable in the grey tone than in the green tone when viewed up in either of the left or right DDI's. For that reason, I have decided to keep on using the Lightning pod rather than switching to the ATFLIR and having to learn all over again how to use that.

Question.  Is there a HOTAS command to switch from wide to narrow FOV on the Lightening?

This is probably the best tutorial around for the LITENING Pod:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57WWVRpCJUY&list=PLml_c09ciuctIreNtpLoPg1DByY5upg6v&index=24&t=9s

Here is a fairly good tutorial from the Grim Reapers on the ATFLIR:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiY9564RXZ0
