AGM-84E SLAM
« on: December 19, 2020, 06:34:47 PM »
I am building a mission that may require a few of us to be proficient at employing the SLAM against a high value target well inside of a big umbrella of SAM sites.

I'll take a look at the videos and get in a little practice.

The biggest issue I am having is the extremely poor quality of the target video during the last few moments of the attack.

Yeah...who put the 1950's TV camera in this little bastard?  It does a pretty good job if the waypoint is right on the target at the right elevation.

works well if you use the pod to designate a spot also If I remember. Been a it since I played with it but agree , terminal video kind of sucks.

So I can only slew at about the last 5 seconds of the flight and I am launching at about 40 miles on high.  Is there a secret so I can slew sooner on low or med or is there another way?

I want to find out if, when using the PP Mode, I can do withou the DL-13 altogether and just fire it and forget it! They program just like a JSOW/JDAM in the PP Mode.

PP mode or Waypoint designate work great without the DL-13.  At 25,000 I was able to use both modes at 60 nm with direct hits.

Be advised the Grisha can shoot them out of the sky.

After more testing the SLAM is as good as any JDAM if not better.  It may be cheating since you can launch them from at least 50 nm but if you are in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

Well, the tradeoff is the 488lb warhead for a single pylon.

I launche 2 at 2 large targets about 50 miles out, and one hit a mountain before reaching the target and the other cleared the mountain but fell about 50 yds short of the target inflicting zero damage. This was after inputting the 8 didit coordinates in for each in the PP Mode. I'll keep looking at it tonight.

And then there's that.  But you will be 50 nm closer to the boat or airbase to rearm vs JDAM.

I added the data link pod tonight and when the camera came on was able to adjust mine to hit.  It was falling short.  Ill do some research and see if they are having issues with them.
