UH-1 Radio Limitation
« on: March 05, 2019, 10:57:27 PM »
I believe the issue with the UH-1 is that I can't reach the higher number frequencies as the hornet.  I am fine in the Hornet but not able to connect at 305 am (VHF???).

Thud, looking at the list of frequencies for the Huey, you should have been able to talk to us on 305.000. I am going to bet you a beer at the next Tail Hook that you failed to select radio number one on your ICS pannel. You should also be able to communicate with us on 127.500 with the VHF radio. I can't lose with a bet like that since, regardless of who wins the bet, I'll still get to drink a beer with you at the next Tail Hook

Good to go.  Just need to get a better understanding with my radios.

EDIT: (Ahhh, didn't see the "Good to Go" part in your post, just saw the "Need to get a better understanding" part) -- Selective reading FTW   :angel7:

As I understand it, with my limited time in the Huey, you should be able to get all of the frequencies in Sparky's list (see Squad Freqs post) on Radio 3 (the lowest one of the 3 on the left).
To do that, the Radio needs to be powered up, and your Intercom switch (below the radios) needs to be switched to Intercom position 3.  At that point, tuning the radio and setting the volume should allow you to work with those frequencies.

That said, I'm by no means an expert on that bird, so take this post with as much salt as you need, but that's the way I'd be trying it.  The radio should cover the desired frequency range as far as I can tell.

Regards,
