Tactics For Saturday
« on: January 16, 2019, 01:40:33 AM »
This mission is going to hinge on Flyguy in the Viggen being able to take out the ship sitting in the harbor at Gelendszyk. He will need to do that before the Hornets can crater the runways at Gelendszyk and Novorosk. BUT, none of that can happen until the Huey's have flown in from the Tarawa, picked up their troops, moved over to grab their weapons and then flown into their LZ to deliver their troops. Once the troops have gone into their targets, 2 commo antennas, and gotten back out to the pick up LZ's and are on their way out, then we can go ahead with out bit.

So to recap, the Huey's have to get their folks into the town to take out the antennae,
The Viggen will need to take out the ship in the harbor,
And then the Hornets will go after the runways. The Hornets will require some SAM suppression at the airfields from a couple of Harriers OR we may be able to support ourselves with the HARM if it comes out tomorrow.

If you are planning to make it Saturday night, please try to make it Thursday night as well.

Make sure to look at page 2 of the Co-op sign up post for some waypoint images.  http://airgroup51.net/forum/index.php?topic=6038.15

Following the strike on the runways of the 2 airfields, we will need to conduct a BDA with screen shots, and proceed to the carrier, out west of Novo. There we will re-fuel/re-arm and wait for word on our next target assignment, which will be determined by the strike photos we bring back with us.

I've seen lots of info on what we (AG-51 ) will be doing but nothing on what T4H will be doing during the mission. Any ideas? Just curious.

Good luck. I wish I could fly this one but I have to pick up my wife at the airport then.

Eaglehart was a little circumspect about it last night but I gathered that they would be launching from the deck of the Stennis and providing a CAP over the target area to the north of Novorosikyst(sp?) and could possibly provide it for us if requested. I didn't really push him for any more information. If we have a couple of HARM shooters, I believe that they could also provide a pretty effective escort for ourselves. I am hoping for at least 4 Hornet drivers, 2 with HARMS and 2 with 10xMk-82's for cratering the runways. We shouldn't need any Harriers but if there is one, he would probably want to bring 4xSidearms to accompany the runway attackers.

FlyGuy, have you established how much time it is going to take you to get at that ship in the harbor of Gelendszik?

Animal, have you got an idea of how long it's going to take to get to the pickup LZ and then over to the target LZ? This, in my opinion, is going to be the most time consuming cog in the wheel and have the greatest probability of error given the dependence on AI troops to embark, disembark and then embark again!!

Eagleheart said something about roughly 12 minutes, but I am not sure.  Without waypoint info, ie; distances, it is difficult to guesstimate.  Eagleheart did specify that the timing of the helo demolition and the Vig-gina strike needs to be within a couple of minutes of each other.  I will try to get a time estimate based on tonight
