Voice Attack Information and Help
« on: November 27, 2018, 12:19:25 PM »
I use voice attack and it seems to work well.  Does take some trial and error on some things to get them to work but now that I have played with it I can do pretty much anything.  You can assign key binds or even mouse clicks.  I have gone so far as to make the mouse move to a spot, mouse click, enter text (into a web browser) click and enter a forum for my re-enacting unit.  All I have to say in the mic is "forum" and it does it all automatically  (after set up of course).  I use it for some of the key hits I need while playing I don't have on my hotas  (map, NVG including making them lighter or darker etc.)  If someone wants some help with it let me know.  The free version includes 20 "commands" you can assign to wording under one profile.  I think its like 10$ for the paid version which gives you unlimited profiles and unlimited # of command assignments.  I am seriously thinking of getting the paid version since to fly the harrier I dont think I can assign all I want to to the hotas and thins would make it much easier than hunting keys while to hover.  Its not limited to use just for games either.  Pretty much anything you want to do in a computer you can make a profile for and use it.

Sounds like this would be the cat's ass for a VR user!

What does this software cost? Assuming that I like the free trial, what would it cost to get a full product key? I'm only asking this because I'm at the office right now and can't download it.

Yup, 10 bones.  I got it a while ago but just haven't gotten it to work how I want so I shelved it.  Might be a good idea to get it rolling, especially since JESTER AI is coming soon...gotta tell that bozo the business!

Yea I bought the full version also.  One thing to keep in mind is it lets you make delays in the timing of the key presses.. Ex  your command tells it to hit the LSK2 key and then another that depends on the first key actuating what you want.  The second key may not work due to not having enough time for the first one to function.  Just add some delay between the key presses and tada it works!  Also you can map mouse moves/ click to locations on the screen but those locations MUST be in the same spot every time or else it wont have anything to click on.  Just a few tips.  I hear allot of guys use it for VR

I can see using it for something as simple as just going through the comms menu while on final to the boat in order to get the carrier to turn the lights on!   Just press an assigned button on my HOTAS to enable Voice Attack and say, "F one", F three" or whatever the order is to get down to "inbound". Or, "Landing Gear", or "Landing Light". These are things that I don't have mapped to my HOTAS.

I think when I get some time in a couple days I'm going to look into this. May be real nice for my vr setup. Get ready for some questions Soldier.

I downloaded the free version of VoiceAttack because they recommend you do that first and make sure you like it before you buy it. I'm already loving it. This is going to make flying in vr even better! I found a turorial on YouTube that does a good job of teaching it to a first timer. He has a couple of videos on the subject. Here is a link to the first one, the second one gets into the actual setting it up. Anyone who thought about trying this I highly recommend it already.

The first time I tried it it worked fine. The next time I tried it I lost all inputs to DCS, mouse, keyboard, everything. I tested it by restarting DCS and just free flying for a few seconds, then I gave it a voice command and lost all inputs again immediately, so I shut down both DCS and VoiceAttack and restarted both and it's working like a charm now. All those little things I had to do that bugged me like extending and retracting the fuel probe ( switch is in a bad spot in vr), clicking the comms menus, all so easy now. The more I learn about this the more useful it will become. I'm sure Soldier will have some great tips.

Hey thanks Thud! For some reason I didn't see those.

I finished setting mine up last night. Right now I'm using 17 of the 20 commands the free version allows you. I didn't have any trouble getting commands entered or keys bound. It's very straight forward once you know what it expects. Right now the free version gives me enough key binds to do what I need but when I learn a bit more about it's capabilities I will buy the paid version and put it to better use. Now I just push my VoiceAttack push to talk button and say for example "Comms 1, F10, F1, F3" , and I'm good to go.

PS, for the commands needing a number ( Keys 1-10 or F Keys) I didn't use the actual number, I spelled out the word version of the number in the command line, example didn't use 8..spelled Eight. I don't know if that's required but that's how I did it and it worked first time. Also, the F keys do double duty even though you only have to program them once . If you program them they work in both comms mode and in regular mode, so I can access all my different views by saying the F key command but when I say Comms 1 or Comms 2 it then uses them in the comms menu, so that's pretty sweet too.

Speaking of this.... I was shown this add on to Voice Attack.  It apparently makes it to where you can talk back and forth with the JTAC or person on the radio instead of the "pilot voice" doing it if I understand it correctly.  Here is the link  https://www.vaicompro.com/
