Starting The Sabre??
« on: February 28, 2015, 09:30:56 AM »
I am following the guide by Chuck that I posted a while ago and I'll be damned if I can get this plane started!! This what I'm doing and can't help but feel that an important step is being left out.

1) select ground crew
2) call for ground power
3) ensure that flight control sw is set to alternate on
4) Throttle off
5) engine master sw to on
6) select battery sw to starter for 3 sec then to battery
7) wait for RPM to reach 3%

This is where I lose it. Nothing is happening. No RPM rise to 3%, no increase in exhaust temp, NO NOTHING!! What am I missing??? I feel like a fuel valve should be turned on or at least a boost pump somewhere. Is there an igniter switch I'm missing?

After Switching master switch on and Before switching Battery switch on, press and battery switch to Starter position (down) for 3 seconds then up to Battery.

Then you will see RPM move to 3% - Click your Home key 1 time, RPM climbs to 6-9% Click Home Key again - Engine started... Home key takes your throttle out of throttle lock and into start and idle position.

oh ... ya just like that..lol.. make sure throttle is locked when you begin process... Throttle lever will not move when you give it any input.. Other than that I don't know why your not getting started...

When you call for ground power are you getting a confirmation saying that ground power is on???

F8 - F2 - F1 for on
F8 - F2 - F2 for off

The throttle is definitely full aft in the shut off position and yes, I get a call from the crew chief saying that the ground power is on.

I don't know what the deal is then.. Maybe it is something to do with the mission, or your just not getting the 3 stage starter/battery switch cycle done... from off to down and hold for 3 sec to all the way up... at that time you should hear a little spooling sound before you unlock your throttle...?????

I do hear the little spooling sound after unlocking the throttle, but that is without seeing the 3% on the compressor RPM. I don't ever see a rise in oil pressure or in EGT. I have been able to start it in the past. I did allow the game to update to the latest version, 1.2.15.37241, before starting to mess with the game this morning. Has anyone else gotten on and updated?

Got it started!! I went to a different mission. The one I was in before was Dog's Race mission. I opened up his Target Range mission and it started just as advertised. I then opened up a mission I built a long time ago and it worked again.

In the Racing mission, the ground crew acknowledges my request for ground power but I never get a "Copy" from them and the power never comes on. Not sure what that is all about. Probably something really simple.
