Well, all I can say is......HOLY FUCK!!!  It's gonna take at least a year before I get to try out all the different types/eras/scenarios possible in this version!! Thank you Hoss!

The Cougar is AWESOME!! Here's some of the good, bad and ugly, just from about 2 hours of playing around with it so far.
The good - most everything!
The bad - no Level Stab for all types anymore. Oh well, it sucks being a fighter jock!
The UGLY - Fireball's premonition was right on. The Turkey's FM is totally farked....but I can live with it!  :icon_biggrin:

The start sequence for the round motors will blow you away!
The game loads in about 30 seconds
The Late model Corsairs still have those same funky loadout options  :sad5:
The AD has everything but the kitchen sink available
Air to air refueling is going to be fun again only with a bunch more tanker options
No SB2C  :sad5: but we now have an OS2U Kingfisher and J2F Duck (amphibious)

More to follow. The installation went very well, just like the directions said. I'm diggin' it!!

OH! Did I say that the Cougar was fargging AWESOME?!!  :icon_biggrin:

Thanks Hoss!

The file download was drama free, install was per directions.

Love the angled deck ships, love the A4 and A-1

Missing my helldiver, but there are pretty good instructions in the CFM manual to add things, and we'll need that for French Indo China!

Still pawing through it all...but thanks again!

Razor, let me know when you want to try multi-player with this beast

Through your gents dredge of things will there be a way to simplify the install or is it just going to be what it is??? I am going on 4.12 search today..

I'm pretty sure that the install is what it is. The actual install is pretty painless. The biggest headache is the downloading of all the parts. Each CFM file, all 11 of them, were over a Gig, and most of the SFS files, 8 of them, were around 600MB or so. Monty duplicated one of the up_object.sfs files but Hoss has that sorted out now. When you're set to do it Dog, I'd be glad to get on TS with you and walk you through it.

what Razor said, hardest part is the downloads...and I am the gold standard of stupidity.

Rgr that... I didn't have 412.. I had cleaned the gutters up to HSFX original... So I have downloaded the IL2 412 mega patch and I am in the process of trying to find original IL2 CD... Might need to talk to Cobraj about this... Will I need the Pacific CD as well before mega patch????

Don't know Dog, however there is a "no CD" patch out there somewhere. My clean install is off my own 1946 CD, which did away with the requirement for the CD to be in the computer.

I an finding a bunch of disappointing things in the course of playing around with this. I am hoping that it is just a matter of a setting, or jsgme file that I haven't enabled yet. All of Asheshouse's beautiful Korean War era carriers don't have working catapults and the WWII Essex class ships don't have the juice to launch the Cougar. I used the Valley Forge, the one with the brown wooden deck, and that works beautifully but there's no Hayrake. There is no North Korean side in the Blue countries. I am confident that these little things will get sorted out eventually. Maybe there is a requirement for a [MODS] entry in the conf.ini file?? The speedbar works great but it always defaults to KPH and when you switch to KIAS, there is (KPH) behind it. Meters is also in () behind feet. No big deal, I just find it odd.

I'll keep digging around in it and see if I can't figure some of these things out. I'm still very impressed with what I have seen so far! Hey, the bomb bay doors work!!

My track IR doesn't work though...weird...it's like Track IR never recognizes the game starting.

On Edit:  Got it sorted

Start making a list, and when Simon releases the final version make a post in it and tell him everything that does not work, did you look in the jsgme files for CTO?....................  you need to enable the Hi-rez skins too................  I'll take a look in the carrier.ini and see if the ships are in it............. did you try the Iowa and the Kingfisher?................. it should work........................ enable the Forgotten Countries jsgme and you will see N Korea in FMB.

the Helldivers are not part of the CFM, the endless pissing contest between SAS and Freemodders precludes Simon putting them in.  But they are easy to install, you can do a jsgme and put them in or learn the basics of the #SAS folder and it's method.

Hoss

Here is the list of Carriers in the carrier.ini file, see if the ship you want is in there if not let me know...........................

I've gotten a few crashes from within the FMB and when I CTL-ALT-DEL, I got an error message saying something about Nvidia and TIR not getting along. However, my TiR does work just fine in game.

How did you manage the Beast??

There's a tutorial on SaS, but it's actually pretty easy.

Download all the versions you want from freemodding  http://freeil2modding.free-forum.net/1-vt2945.html?sid=7cf7e5e462136ff88222bcfbcb7dad3a

Unzip to the #SaS folder

In the #SAS\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects folder, you'll find the air.ini file

add the lines for each plane from their respective readmes

You'd need Hoss level of juju to make then JSGME things, but this will get them going

I wish I knew where the loadouts lived, I'd like to fix the SBD once and for all...lol

We can control it in the mission building ;)

Any pilot that tells you he's never been lost is either lying or he's never been anywhere.

Ted, have you noticed a different, or complete lack of the CTO?? I am importing missions from our present version, and I am finding that the same # of a/c won't fit on the same deck. Have I missed a jsgme to enable?
