Thunderbird and Blue Angel crash on the same day. Both #6. Prayers to the family To the Blue Angel pilot who was killed.

Yeah it was a bad day.

My wife and I were actually planning to drive up to Smyrna on Sunday to see the Blue Angels.

I did some internal searching after this accident, never met Jeff, sure he was a great dude.  Personally know the skipper of the blues and the #2 pilot.  Before this job I'd look at the Blues doing their routine and think of it as being on "rails" like a roller coaster and nothing could ever go wrong.  Thought they were too good.  Now I go to airshows and pray no one screws up and kills themselves or others.  No one ever puts that harness on and closes the canopy thinking that day will be their last (at least for many decades now.) Prayers for his wife and two children please.

Wow, terrible couple of week for aviation, another F-18 down last week from Oceanna (I believe), and two F-16s from SC involved in a mid-air yesterday (both safely ejected). Normally they impose a mandatory safety stand-down day when it gets like this.
