Interested in a Pacific Campaign?
« on: August 12, 2011, 11:46:02 AM »
Hello AG-51, S! :icon_salut:  I remembered that the old IV./JG51 converted over to AG-51 and went looking for you guys.  I found Dart's group first and thought you'd all gone off to A-10:DCS.  He told me they were separate now, and so I'm glad I've found the existing AG-51.  Nice new website too.  Looks good. :icon_thumleft:  I was wondering if you guys would be interested in participating in our upcoming Pacific campaign in the Solomon Islands.  I'm part of a team that runs the Ghost Skies online war.  It evolved out of the long running Forgotten Skies war.  For years we did European campaigns, but are finally venturing out into the wide open Pacific and thought you may want to take part.  I see/hear you guys have played SEOW campaigns using the coop game mode.  Ghost Skies is different in that we use the dogfight game mode, aided by Zuti's MDS, along with a custom dynamic campaign generator and server controller (originally made by Scorp for FS, now tweaked for GS).  Currently we are on 4.10.1 with the UP 3.0 RC4 mods.  Ghost Skies is 100% human played, no AI aircraft.  Our last campaign, Slovenia, that we just finished, average about 70 players per night.  Missions are held 3 times a week, Sunday/Tuesday/Friday.  We operate on a 1 life per mission concept, and use high realism settings.  Obviously there's much more information, so please just ask, and/or visit www.ghostskies.com for some more general information.  The Solomons campaign is currently being designed, so specifics will be available as they are determined.  If this sounds at all like something you guys would enjoy, we'd love to have an experienced Pacific group fly with us.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Salute Herr Stecher! Thanks for the invite. We are just now coming out of a hard and LONG fought SE campaign in Stalingrad and begining the process of working up for a campaign in the Pacific. Your offer is very appealing and we will definitely look into it. Stay tuned.

Hey Razor.  This is somethign I may be interested in as well.  Even though I am a pilot for GIAP they are a very Euro centric squad.  That's why I do all my SE's through Ground Zero.   I would be interested in signing up for this if you guys do so I can fly with you this time instead of against you!

I have heard some good things about Ghost Skies in passing and I know they do get the numbers on mission nights.   In fact I think a couple of the =AVG= guys from Ground Zero fly this.  Maybe that's where I heard it.

Let me know if you guys are thinking about this as I'd like to fly with the '51.

Yeah AVG has been flying with us for 3 years, good bunch of guys.  Do any of you happen to know of western hemisphere timezone Japanese squads?

We used to fly against a great group of guys that went by the name Fugi Flyers, but that's been quite a while ago.

What are the start times for these missions??

Missions launch at 9:30pm ET, Sunday, Tuesday, Friday.  But you should be on about 15 minutes early to get briefed on any late changes to the posted team plan, and get the cached mission files downloaded and installed before launch.  Once the mission launches it has a 12 minute pre-flight period to allow everyone to join, load, and taxi into position.  The controller will countdown to a "Clear to Takeoff" message, thus beginning the active mission period, which is 90 minutes.

Razor, those are good times for me to fly as well.   Reach me through your forums here if you guys get organized to fly one of those nights, or if you have a practise or something.  I'm in!  :read:

Going to www.ghostskies.com to get reaquainted with this set up.

We're a week into early testing.  Nothing too organized or developed yet.  If you guys would like to just get some time on the map and in the planes, and get to know some of the other squads, feel free to drop in and fly with us one of these nights.  We use a custom mod pack that goes along with UP3.  Let me know and I'll get you all the details on setting that up.
