YG (land-based Hayrake)
« on: October 02, 2012, 05:08:32 PM »
In last Saturday nights mission we were supposed to land at Henderson Field on Guadalcanal. There was a YG transmitter set up at the field.

YG works the same as the ship-based YE transmitters we're used to, except the codes are the same for all YG's and they never change. They are:

DWR / KAN / UGM / LFS

The two letter station ID that gets transmitted every tenth cycle, also never changes. (I don't remember offhand what the station ID for the YG at Hendersion was in this mission.)

There's a mnemonic to help you remember the YG codes. You may have heard Razor say it on Saturday:

"Did Willie Really Kill A Nasty Ugly German Man Last Friday (or) Saturday."

That's  it!. So easy a VF guy could (almost) do it.  :icon_biggrin:

I think that the Station ID actually does change between stations on a map. i.e. with more than one station placed on a map, they will have unique 2 letter station ID's.

Any pilot that tells you he's never been lost is either lying or he's never been anywhere.

Maybe that's a result of all 8 of you VF chasing after a few Rufes, leaving the package to fend for themselves against a trio of Zekes! That might explain why/how VF were the only ones to make it into Henderson. I doubt if it was because anyone in VT was lost!  :violent1:

You are correct. What I was trying to say, I think, is that the station ID for a given YG beacon didn't change in real life. But in the game I guess  if you build two different maps with a YG at Henderson Field for example, they could very well have different station IDs in the two maps.
