DCS: F/A-18C HORNET AT E3 2017

Lausanne, Switzerland, May 29th, 2017 - DCS: F/A-18C Hornet to be unveiled at E3 2017!

Eagle Dynamics SA and Belsimtek are excited to announce that DCS: F/A-18C Hornet will have its debut showing at E3 2017 at the Thrustmaster

So, do I need to start prepping CINC Razor for a new HOTAS rig based on the stick and throttle that is in the Hornet??  :icon_biggrin:

This is all very, very encouraging news! Especially since it will be debuted in a booth at the E3 convention and not in some hanger at an airshow!!

It never ceases to amaze me how some folks on the ED forums are impossible to be satisfied!! They are already complaining about the clouds for F&%K sake!!   I wish I could wave a magic wand and replace all of their video cards with a GForce 580. That would solve all of their problems!1  :Rofl

People suck.   If you gave everyone a bar of gold, some would complain about how heavy it is.
ED forums are bad, but not horrible,   reddit/hoggit is quite bad at times,  and SimHQ is just fucking poison.

One of the planned air-to-air weapons for the Early Access will be the AIM-7 Sparrow. In addition to the M version, we also plan the F and H versions. While still very much work-in-progress, the AIM-7 SMS page is taking shape and some of the basic HUD symbology. Still Sparrow work to do on radar integration, along with FLOOD and HOJ modes.

Work on the caution and advisory system continues with good progress; this has been a very complex and time-intensive undertaking. Other areas being worked on are the bombing HUD modes, A/A radar, INS waypoint system, RWR, and countermeasures.

There have been a lot of questions regarding what sensors and weapons will be available at the launch of the early access DCS: F/A-18C Hornet. This decision is based on balancing a great, first experience, while getting quickly into the hands of those prefer early access adoption. We realize that early access is not for everyone, but for many, it is. If you prefer a completed product, we ask that you wait for the final release. Take that time to monitor previews and early access reports to make an informed purchase.

We believe that starting with the more

Very nice!! There are 2 things that stuck out though, which I would hope they can/will address. The first is, no conductors between the power transmission towers, and the second is, a lack of terrain relief between the water and the shore of the river. It could use some kind of elevation difference between the two. Otherwise, the Autumn colors are very beautiful!

I am really looking forward to the A-4 coming out. I have so limited time that I cannot keep up with all of the modules that I have. I too am going to have to limit myself on these modules. For me DCS is really about the rotorhead stuff. I do want the F-18 and will do the A-4 but I believe those will the last ones for quite a while.

Today's mini-update: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3449454&postcount=48

We are very much in a sprint now to create a Hornet press preview, which will then fold into the Early Access release version.

As is probably a familiar mantra by now, much of the work is focused on the air-to-to air radar with implementation of STT, accurate gimbal limits in reference to the antenna frame, and SRPS scan being done
Title: Re: F/A-18C
Post by: AG-51_Razor on April 11, 2018, 03:19:17 PM
I find it a little bit unsettling their lack of information on the CVN that is supposed to be coming out. I have a suspicion that the early access Hornet will NOT be coming with an upgraded carrier and if that is the case, I will be less than pleased. If they just fixed the Nimitz so that it has catapults, IFOLS and a TACAN I would be ecstatic, but I am concerned by the lack of comment on it.

In a couple videos they have showed CAT Launches and traps that have looked pretty nice, however nothing like we once seen with rolling elevators, cable retractions... etc... But your right without an upgraded ship we may be very much that... Disappointed.  However it may give us ample opportunity to get the basics down until they come up with something!!!

This is a little repetitive, but well worth the time spent watching. The most wonderful thing that I noticed, aside from the IFOLS, is that there were NO SCRATCHES at all to be seen on the canopy!!  :headbang:

So, once we are hooked up on the cat via the "U" key, we just bring up the throttle all the way and it fires the cat??

10-4 on the stupid. I am about 100 miles west of Waco in Goldthwaite and it is just plain hot... At least it does cool down a little at night, but wouldn't be surprised if that ends soon.. Suppose to get up too 115 this next week!!

New info for future stuff going on with the Hornet:  https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3539126&postcount=62

In addition to the nice update this week, the team is working furiously on many other items to get the Hornet foundation solid by the end of the month. Here are some items already resolved internally that will be pushed soon to an update:

1-   Unable to select AG weapons after first selecting AIM-7.
2-   Canister munitions (MK-20 and CBU-99) are now much more accurate. Note that you

5-   You can now disconnect from the shuttle.  Wooop! Woooop! This means that we can all spawn (granted, only 4 at a time) on the same carrier, unhook from the cat and taxi away for the next guy to come on. This will allow us to all launch from the same boat with minimal hassle. Hopefully they will get the parking spots figured out sometime soon

Mini update https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3629425&postcount=78

Time for a little update![/size]Much our Hornet work has been focused on an overhaul of the Hornet radar. As you might imagine, this has been a huge task, but it will be worth it for the Hornet and other aircraft. As of today, it's near impossible to shake a lock with just ownship maneuvers. Now we just need to have the radar RTS after lock loss and MEM mode times out. We've also started initial tests of the JHMCS in the simulation. The attached image is an image of the HMD at a VERY incomplete state. We are now adding more and more of its symboloy and functions.MK-83 Ballute and CBU-100 have been added internally.Speaking of CBU, the destructive power of anti-armor sub-munitions have been significantly increased, as well as the coverage footprint. The Flashing X on the radar has been when a person skips turning on the radar during a cold start has been fixed.Target lock in MPRF against short range, high-aspect targets has been corrected.AIM-7 HOJ is active development.New interactive training missions for CASE I recovery, AIM-9, and AIM-120 are now being created.Locked target HUD symbology jumping around has been addressed.TCN symboloy on HSI when viewed from a duplicate display has been fixed.Other items in the near-term cue:- HARM- LGBs- FPAS page- Automatic range scale adjustment- A/A Waypoint, BRA, and Bullseye functions- LWTSATFLIR is also a high priority, but we first need to complete a an all new and improved FLIR rendering system
