I am currently downloading the Battle of Stalingrad early release. Will see how it goes I guess......
-
Driving a Yakity Yak or 109?
-
That would be a 109... not much of a Russki Aircraft fan...
-
Any thought on this? Did you get a chance to fly it.
-
No a bit of a story here. I purchased late last Thursday and downloaded. The interface to run it is similar to RoF and it requires an update to run. The issue is that the server is only online from Tuesday to Thursday Moscow time (this is still in Alpha release). So it can't upload or activate until that time. I was not online last night so i have to beat feet on it tonight to get the activation and download.
-
Actually the next period that the game is active has switched to Friday through Sunday (6th - 9th). But Moscow time so it'll be up shortly if not already (according to a post I read this morning). Guns are supposed to be activated this time and there'll be some AI's to shoot at.

Ok so this is a big WIP. I thought it was further along then that. Not so much beta as it is pre Alpha.
-
Yep it is an Alpha. There are two flyable planes at the moment- 109 and a Lagg 3. The interface is a bit different than we are used too but fairly intuitive. They don't have stick scaling in yet so the stick is quite touchy at the moment. The graphics are quite good at least on the winter map and I think the cockpit is top notch. I think it shows some real promise for down the road but is limited in scope at the first release. I think there are going to be 4 aircraft each side to start. I love the Ju-88 and am a bit disappointed that it is not coming our with the first release. The only Russian plane I am interested in flying is the IL2 itself.
-
Do the planes at all replicate the A2A or DCS planes... Or do they just look pretty????
-
Well I am not that competent in German aircraft. It is a bit more difficult to fly than planes in IL2 4.12 however the German 109 uses auto prop, mixture, and radiator. Starting is a simple key push- instead of I they use E same as RoF. It will be a matter of seeing what the other planes are like when they come out. The 109 was a bit squirrelly on landing which I believe is at least somewhat historic.
-
I like RoF as single player, but detest the mission builder, and the COOP problems...Spawn/die/spawn DF maps bore me to tears....also unfortunate in picking the eastern front as subject matter....
Looking before I leap.....
-
Just dabbling at this point. It's got a way to go. Ju-88 hasn't been mentioned yet but will get the He-111 and Ju-87. Like it so far, interface is like a blend of IL2 and RoF.

UPDATE:
Welcome to the 5th week of Early Access in IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad.
And this time it's a really massive welcome because Standard edition owners are joining the early access program today. Welcome, dear Silver Founders! You're free to download the game client from your Profile page right now.
Please, note: the early access schedule is different for the Christmas & New Year's holidays. Thus, the 6th session starts at 20:00 UTC/GMT December 27th and lasts till (hopefully, barring any problems) 20:00 UTC/GMT January 5th. Meanwhile, the 5th session starts today at 20:00 UTC/GMT and ends in 72 hours - at 20:00 UTC/GMT December 23rd.
In this "episode" you'll meet the first bomb and rocket weaponry; the list of planes remains the same. And even thou the set of planes remains the same, be sure that we've prepared new exciting simming experience for you in our test missions with ground targets.
Have a nice weekend!
